Teams race through a course in Hollywood's North Lake and get awards for fastest boat and "most spectacular sinking."
Hollywood Beach Broadwalk Saturday, December 4, 2010 Parade begins at 7:00 p.m.
The 55th Annual Candy Cane Parade has become a much-loved holiday tradition. Hollywood’s historic oceanfront Broadwalk serves as the backdrop for this hometown holiday celebration. Named a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, this holiday parade is in its 55th year and runs the length of the 2.5 mile Hollywood Boardwalk past inns, restaurants and shops decked-out for the holidays and offering bird’s-eye parade views. The theme of this year’s event, White Ice, will feature over a half million twinkling lights adorning a procession of festive floats, high-stepping marching bands, costumed characters and dance troupes with thousands of candy canes and peppermints handed-out to spectators along the parade route.
Including undulating biomorphic forms made of porcelain or plaster, Sinisa Kukec’s exhibition will include sculptures growing from found objects, the walls, floor, or ceiling, some of almost monolithic scale and others of undersized dimensions, frequently conflicting with the historically scripted media of sculpture, craft, and design.
